Evan J. Balmer is a founding partner of Balmer Black. He has been fortunate enough to work with some of the world’s top entertainers, including Academy, Grammy, Tony award-winners, and even members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Prior to law school, Mr. Balmer had a successful career in the music business, primarily as an artist manager. As he transitioned into a legal career, Mr. Balmer received training as a student lawyer in public defender’s offices in Ann Arbor, Michigan and New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Mr. Balmer completed his undergraduate work at Washington & Lee University and graduated with honors from the Western Michigan University School of Law, where he won the school’s Moot Court competition, was a finalist in the ADR Negotiation Competition, and founded the Entrepreneurial Law Society. Additionally, he received his LL.M. In Taxation from New York Law School.
After going through his own unnecessarily dragged-out divorce, Mr. Balmer vowed to dedicate a portion of his practice to help others avoid the divorce drama that he experienced. To further this goal of helping others, Mr. Balmer has joined in the launch of the first national mediation startup, Wevorce, making Balmer Black the first law firm to offer this service in NYC and New Jersey. The Wevorce platform utilizes mediators, finance professionals, family planners, and proprietary technology to assist couples with charting their post-marriage life.
Mr. Balmer is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey.
